The sky painted a picture
Of a world I longed to see
The stars and all their courses
Spoke of beauty to me
They sparkled like little jewels
Glittering above my head
Small pieces of perfection
Winking at me from my bed
I watch the swirls of midnight
Whispering songs to me
Sweeter than any confection I’ve tasted
As soft as a melody
The moon an orb of white
The dappling milky waves
cold, bitter air that bites
And takes my breath away
If I could dance among the stars
I wouldn’t hesitate to take the chance
I’d be happy there
Up in the air
With you for company
We could paint the stars together
And conjure up a sunrise
Breathing soft feathers
And smiles the entire time
Up there I’d be free
I could sail across the skies
I would dream in different colors
And breathe the softest sighs
If my fingers could grasp the stars
Or if my hands could hold the moon
I’d be a different person
I’d leave so very soon
I wouldn’t stay here much longer
My heart has always longer for afar
And I know my place is not in this world
But there among the stars
