I wrote this because I go to camp in exactly a week! I'm so excited and this will be my SEVENTH year there!!!
Deer Creek Camp
Pack up your things and set up your bed
It’s camping time, once again
The cabins are clean, each one is unique
The names of each are magnifique
If it’s your first year, you’ll be sorted into tribes
Which one will you get? You don’t get to decide
There’s Honeys and Polars
Bears with fierce spirits
And Grizzlies and Sugars
Shouting cheers, you can hear it
Passing the swim test is no easy feat
It took me forever, I terribly got beat
Moving on to the rules of camp
Are you prepared?
After that is challenge by choice
In case you get scared
The theme songs are creative
Have you heard each and every one
Follow the rules of camp
And don’t waste fun!
No food in the cabins
Or, at least that’s what they say
But we break that rule
Each and every day
New friends you will make here
No matter where they’re from
You’ll be with them for a while
From sun to sun
There’s a specialty for all of us
Which will you choose
Drama or soccer
Some of which you can lose
FOB is a great time to hang out and relax
Feet on Bunk it stands for
Or, Flat On Back
Sugar Shack comes next
It’s a place to get crazy
Wakes you up from your nap
From which you’re still hazy
Are you ready for the rest of the day
Activities, Pool, and Team Meeting
Although you are here for two weeks
The days seem fleeting
Years and years pass by
And soon you have found
That more and more you look forward
To Holy Ground
Your faith in God will grow here
Throughout each year
We sing plenty of praises
We learn to have a God we fear
Some only come
for the zip lines and pool
Some only come
because they think it’s cool
I come each year
To see my dearest friends
I come each year
To sing about the End
One day I will stand before
A throne on Judgement Day
What then will He ask me?
What then will I say?
“I’ve learned to live and love,
All because of D.C.C.”
I think that’s a pretty good answer
‘Cause camp is a part of me.
