This is a poem for a prompt that my friends and I came up with. It's about a person lost in their worst fear. For this person, it is loneliness.
Snowflakes on my tongue
Butterflies in my mind
Lost within a soul
Where only you can find
Comfort in your touch
Luck across you lips
Holding on too much
To this tender bliss
Eyes a shade of sorrow
Voice a tone of nerves
Promises of tomorrow
broken, useless words
Breath cold and crisper
Than an arctic breeze
Softer than a whisper
Calling quietly, “Please”
Drowning in the night
Screaming in the air
Blinking out the light
Fingers in my hair
Face against the pillow
Tucked within a bed
Weeping like a willow
A bump against my head
Awoken from the nightmare
Followed by a sigh
Thinking of the awful scare
Repeating one word: why?
Senses dripping like icicles
cold, confused, and dead
Thoughts pedaling like bicycles
Round and round my head
Croaking ravens around me
Lost under the moans
Flying on a spree
Surrounded by the groans
Darkness closes in
Tangible to touch
Taking me on a spin
Whirling far too much
Snowflakes on my tongue
Butterflies in my mind
Lost within a soul
That only you can find
Comfort in your hand
Luck across you lips
Grasping on command
Holding on to bliss
Dreams a shade of sorrow
Screams a block of nerves
Wails a peal of tomorrow
broken, useless words
Droplets cling to lashes
Croaky creaky songs
Shattered splintered glasses
Everything is wrong
